More About Chocolate
2009 Austin Chocolate Festival: FYS Students Display their artwork
Some Local Austin Chocolatiers that also have great stories include:
Clara
Serrano, maker of Ignafire
Chocolates, handmakes her products, some in the shape
of cacao beans and others molded. Her chocolates come from a mixture of ground cacao and special sugar (but
not much) that she developed. The chocolate tastes great, although the most impressive aspect of her work involves
the sustainable packaging.
Tom
Pederson, maker of Chocolate
Covered Cacao Beans,
carefully chooses each individual bean and then coats
it in a layer of white chocolate, then milk chocolate
and finally dark chocolate dusted in cocao powder. Very
unique! Tom also relies on a Mayan glyph as the symbol
for his product.handmakes her products, some in the shape
of cacao beans and others molded. Look for the shiny red packages.
Jennifer
Flood, owner of Fat Turkey Chocolate Company,
takes bulk chocolate and turns it into fabulous marvels, particularly truffles. This is a family run company and
specializes in development of unique flavors. Jennifer also has been the main
organizer for the Annual Chocolate Festival in Austin.
I hope to see you there.
