The second semester of intermediate French combines a comprehensive review and fine-tuning of grammar with readings in literature and culture and expanded vocabulary practice. Learner-centered activities and discussions develop reading, writing, speaking, and argumentative skills. Partner and group work enhance conversational and negotiating skills. Students successfully completing French IV will demonstrate a strong general grasp of grammar and vocabulary, acquire the basic tools to read and discuss more sophisticated texts in French, and be able to conduct research in areas of personal interest or expertise through individual projects.
