Some of my volunteer work:
- Catholics, both at Southwestern University and at St. Helen's Catholic Church. Includes catechist, retreat chaperone, etc. for first grade through high school.
- Georgetown Independent School District.
- As part of Partners in Education (PIE), I host one or more students a year at Southwestern from Business Link, in which middle school students visit campus and learn about various jobs in academia.
- I gave workshops to GISD 5th graders
in an event organized by SU's Linda Southwick April 2009.
- I have served as chaperone/adult helper at GISD events
including May 7-10, 2010 trip for 200 choir, orchestra, and band performers
from grades 9-12 to South Padre, TX for the Gulf Coast competition;
- the 8th grade end-of-year celebration at Austin's Park and Pizza in May 2009;
- a trip to Fiesta Texas for all middle school choirs in GISD in May 2009;
UIL Choir competition April 2009;
- an overnight at GattiLand for all middle school choirs in GISD in 2007-08.
- Since 1990, I have pitched in for decorating, set-up, serving, and clean-up at parties, dances, Field Day, Book Fair, and similar events when extra adults are needed.
- Girl Scouts. Includes Troop Coordinator for Cookies (1998-2005, once for two troops; 2006-present helper with cookies) or Fall Products; co-leader for Cadette to Senior Troop 915, then Brownie Troop 1167, and all-age level Troop 1307; First Aid and CPR certified at various times; driver, etc.
- Williamson County Crisis Center.
- I read a book onto tape at Southwestern University.
- I recycle regularly, including toting cardboard to the Round Rock recycling facility.
- I regularly donate items to the Caring Place in Georgetown.
- I have planted trees at the Georgetown Playscape and in San Gabriel Park.
