Psychoanalysis Case Study #1: Shannon (Cycle 1)
Shannon is only shown from the knees up and her hip is popped to one side. Her eyes are not making contact with the viewer so we have the opportunity to look in without her seeing us. The viewer can take pleasure in this glimpse into a moment of her life and has the opportunity surveil her activities (the same idea as "surveillance" in Rose's Discourse II). Her outfit is for the enjoyment of those looking at her. She is wearing only very short shorts and glorified bra top. The audience can clearly see every curve of her feminine body.
Her outfit and body are also for the man shown literally possessing her as he grabs her leg. His pose is stating that this female is posession, and you have the opportunity to look but not touch this female.
