Systems Analysis
Part I -- Due January 14
LifeSteps will be a client of the Capstone in Software Engineering
Spring 2010. Your task is to find out as much as you can about
LifeSteps before talking with and meeting its staff. Write
an essay describing the work of this non-profit in the style of
similar articles in the popular press such as the New York TImes or
Washington Post.
This essay should be at least two pages in length. You should
briefly define what system analysis is, and then elaborate on what you
have found out about the client, LifeSteps, including its services and
mission.
Some initial background:
LifeSteps is headed by its director, Efrain Davila, and family services
coordinator Rhonda Hohmann.
From my one meeting with them I observed the following. They
currently have a remote Microsoft server that is accessed from at least
two offices, one in Round Rock and one in Georgetown. They have around
500 client records annually that are tracked in an Excel spreadsheet as
well as with paper files. They see the major three problems as
consistency in data entry, training of those using the data and
preparing for audits of the monies paid.
