8.6 Power Series and 8.7 Taylor and Maclaurin Series, Taylor Polynomial but not really 8.9. Lots of board work. Demo of TayColPlt.nb .

We have covered parts but not all through 8.9. We covered the mechanics of calculating Taylor series term by term, common patterns in being able to write the nth term of a Taylor series, definition and calculation of radius of convergence, using the Ratio Test on a power series in xn to determine the interval of convergence except for the endpoints.

Creating series using function composition and a known Taylor series.
Taylor Series of polynomials. Outline of graphing Taylor polynomials and the original series. Integration of functions via Taylor Series. Patterns in TS, verifying (but for now not coming up with the patterns.) Examples of Taylor Series applications (airplane wings and pilot's cheeks).

Average value, Mean Value Theorem for Integrals. Outline of tracing a function on the graphing calculator to estimate the value of "c" whose function values is the average value of the function over an interval.

13 Tues 17-Apr Discuss exam notes. Review. Board work and discussion included (1) interval of convergence for a power series, (2) average value of a function and the x-value at which the average is achieved, (3) trigonometric substitution integration and in full and indications of substitutions in variations of the integrand, (4) sum of a series for geometric, McLaurin series value, and telescoping series.
